Xpress Natural Gas Announces New Service to Cary Medical Center

BOSTON and Caribou, ME — September 10, 2013 — Xpress Natural Gas (XNG) today announced a new partnership with Cary Medical Center in Caribou, Maine, to provide the hospital with clean and affordable compressed natural gas (CNG). The transition from heating oil to CNG, slated for the fall, will not only lessen the hospital’s carbon footprint, but it will also contribute to the local economy by bringing CNG-related construction and maintenance jobs to the community.

As the largest provider of trucked CNG and liquefied natural gas (LNG) solutions for businesses and municipalities in the Northeast, XNG is rapidly expanding both its operational capabilities and service footprint to better meet the needs of customers like Cary Medical Center. XNG currently has customers under contract for service in five U.S. states and the Canadian Maritimes.

The hospital’s decision to make the switch was largely based on a speedy and advantageous return on investment. In fact, Cary Medical Center expects to save $250,000 annually after making the switch from heating oil. Taking into account retrofitting and installation costs, the medical center will realize these savings in just under two and a half years.

“CNG was a perfect fit for us,” said Shawn Anderson, chief operating officer at Cary Medical Center. “We were extremely impressed with XNG’s expertise and customer service. Our relationship with XNG and the corresponding and dramatic long-term cost savings after making the switch will allow us to reinvest in the hospital to benefit patient services.”

XNG is the only provider licensed to export trucked CNG by the U.S. Department of Energy, and licensed to import trucked CNG by the National Energy Board of Canada. XNG is committed to enabling businesses, institutions, cities and towns in both countries to lower their energy costs and improve the environment at the same time.

Commenting on the new partnership, John Nahill, co-founder and president of XNG, said, “Locations like Cary Medical Center — large consumers of costly heating oil — can benefit immensely from switching to CNG. They join a growing list of businesses that are currently taking advantage of accessible, reliable and cost-effective trucked CNG.”
