A natural gas supply operation plans to locate in Appomattox and create up to 50 jobs, according to an announcement made on Friday morning.
Xpress Natural Gas (XNG) plans to locate its facility on 5.6 acres in the Appomattox Center for Business and Commerce, commonly referred to as the Industrial Park.
XNG plans to invest $7.8 million into the new business, with $100,000 of that being provided from Appomattox County through Tobacco Commission funds.
With the addition of XNG, the Industrial Park now boasts four total businesses that also include Martin Printwear, Penelope’s, and Lynchburg Ready-Mix.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe was the guest speaker on Monday as more than 100 local dignitaries attended the announcement ceremony at the Industrial Park, located off Route 26 on West Ridge Road.
Seth Berry, Co-Founder and Chief Administrative Officer of XNG, said construction on the facility should start by January or February of 2016, at which time the company would begin accepting employment applications.
